Looking for a Helping Hand
Alex (in a wheelchair): Hi, are you lost too?
Jamie (visually impaired): Yes, I am. I’m looking for the science lab. Do you know where it is?
Alex: No, I don’t. I’m trying to find the cafeteria. I thought it was near the main entrance, but I can’t see any signs.
Jamie: I know what you mean. I’m using my cane, but I’m not hearing many people around. It’s too quiet. I want to find someone to ask.
Alex: Yeah, maybe we’re in the wrong building.
(A security guard approaches)
Guard: Hello! Do you both need some help?
Jamie: Yes, please. I’m trying to find the science lab.
Alex: And I’m looking for the cafeteria. Are we close to either?
Guard: The science lab is in Building B, and the cafeteria is in Building A. This is Building C, so you’re a little off.
Jamie: Oh no! Are the buildings far from here?
Guard: Not really. Building A is just down that path to the left. And Building B is straight ahead. I can walk with you if you’d like.
Alex: That would be really helpful. I wasn’t sure how to get there without better signs.
Jamie: Yes, I’d appreciate the help too. It’s hard to find my way in a new place.
Guard: No problem at all. Are you both new students?
Alex: Not yet. We’re visiting today to check out the campus.
Jamie: We’re hoping to start classes here next semester.
Guard: That’s great! Welcome to campus. Let’s get you where you need to go.
Alex: Thank you so much!
Jamie: Yes, thanks a lot!
